UBI BANK PROMOTION EXAM SYLLABUS:- Union Bank has started with the Promotion process for the year 2024-25 and had released a notification on October 25, 2021. The promotion has been notified for the employees working at Clerical Level. 

So, this comes as a golden opportunity for the Union Bankers to participate and shift up their scale to Scale-I. The merit channel is the best channel if you want to climb up the scales fast. 

With the shifting of your pay scales, you also get a higher share of duties and as compensation higher pay scale.

UBI PROMOTION EXAM (CLERK TO SCALE-I) NOTIFICATION:

The official notification was out on October 25th intimating about the details of the promotion process for Clerical staff to be promoted to Officer Cadre (JMGS-1). Union Bank has notified 597 vacancies under State Services (Seniority cum Merit) Channel & 427 under all India Services (Merit) Channel.

Union Bank of India SYLLABUS for 2021-2022 Promotion Exams:

  1. ENGLISH

Functional Grammar: It will include the Introduction to basic vocabulary and the use of prepositions, nouns, adverbs, pronouns, verbs, articles, structures and the correct use of words as well as phrases and direct & indirect speech. No direct reference to the rules of grammar is included in the syllabus.

Comprehension & Precis Writing: Only Objective MCQs will be asked to know whether the candidates can comprehend the passages.

  1. COMMERCIAL LAW

Contract Act: You need to have just the general knowledge of the Law of Contract and main focus should be on the following concepts:

  • Formation of Contract
  • Essentials of Valid Contract
  • Rights a Liabilities of Joint Promisors & Joint Promises
  • Quasi Contract
  • Effect of Void & Voidable Contract
  • Appropriation of Payments – Clayton’s Rule

Concepts: Indemnity & guarantee, Bailment & Pledge, Agency, Negotiable Instruments, Sale of Goods & Partnership, Bills of Lading & Letter of Credit (LC), Insurance, Insolvency, Transfer of Actionable Claim, Provisions relating to Mortgages & Charges on Immovable Properties

Rules for Journalising: The process of Posting of Accounts, writing different types of Cash Books, Petty Cash Books in Columnar Form, Imprest System of Petty Cash Book, Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS), Different types of Journals, Journal Proper and writing of Purchase & Sales Journals.

Adjusting, Closing, Transfer & Rectification Entries: It includes the adjustments for bad debts, Provisions for doubtful debts & discount a debtors or creditors, various methods of Depreciation.

Trial Balance: Preparation of Trading and Profit & Loss Account and Balance Sheet of sole traders, Reserves and Provisions, Sinking Funds.

Accounts of non- trading concern: Preparations of Receipts & payments accounts, income & expenditure accounts and Balance Sheets.

Bills of Exchange & the treatment: Only simple problems on Sectional system of Self-balancing Ledgers 

Consignment & Joint Venture Accounts: These include the consignment & JV Accounts, Current Investment & Share Transactions.

Simple Partnership Accounts: It includes the preparation of Fixed & Fluctuating Capitals, Current & Drawing Accounts, Interest on Capital, Drawings, Salary, Commission, Revaluation of Assets, Treatment of Goodwill and Admission, Retirement, Death of Partners, Dissolution of firm. But it excludes Garner v/s Murray and sale to a Limited Company, Amalgamation of Firms, Final Accounts, Reserves, Provisions etc.

Company Accounts: This includes the Issue of Shares and Debentures at Par, at Premium and at Discount, Forfeiture of Shares and then Re-issue of forfeited share, Issue of Bonus shares. Simple cases of Final accounts (only elementary knowledge of Schedule VI of the Company’s Act, 1956 is expected), Reserves a Provisions, Sinking a Reserve Funds.

Deposits:

  • Savings: Information on who can open a Saving Bank Account, Rules of Operations, Account of Minors, Illiterate etc, Procedure and Operations.

Negotiable Instruments Act: Provisions of NI Act, what are Negotiable Instruments and their characteristics, Payment and collection of cheques and protection to the Banker under NI Act. Provisions of Sections 4, 5, 6, 10, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 31, 45, 47, 48, 49, 64, 84, 85, 87, 118, 123 to 131 and 138 to 142 of the Act.

Service to the Customer-Remittances: Different remittance facilities such as Demand Deposits, MT, TT, Pay Order, Payment of DD-SDV-Nominations of SDV, Operations, Death of SDV holder – Safe Custody, India Card, Stockinvest, Merchant Banking Services, Automated Teller Machines, Different Service Charges.

Cash Department: Functioning of the Cash Department, how the Exchange of mutilated notes is done, Cash Management & Profitability, Clearing & National Clearing.

Customer Service: Recommendations of Working Group on Customer Service, Goiporia Committee Recommendations, Different Measures of Customer Services that are implemented in Union Bank, Consumer Protection Law, Marketing of Bank’s Services, what is the Importance of Dispatch Department and Ombudsman Scheme.
