CAIIB IT MODULE – A: Introduction to Information Technology

Impact of IT on Banking: 

The first unit of IT introduces you to the Impact of Information Tech. on the Banking sector, Changing Financial Environment and how IT has come up as a Strategic Response with the use of Hardware-Software.

System Software: 

System Software like Operating Systems (OS) such as Desktop OS or Server OS, Windows such as Desktop or Server & UNIX such as H. P. Unix, Sun Solaris, Linux, IBMAIX) etc is the main focus of this unit.

Computer Languages:

The unit tries to explain topics relating to Equipment & Data Communication such as Computer Networks, Network Layers, IP Address Mechanisms, Topologies, Protocols, Local Area Network-LAN, Wide Area Network-WAN, VLAN, Intranet, Extranet, Internet, Network Equipment: Cables such as BNC, Twisted Pair, Fibre Optics, Connectors, Input/Outputs, Patch Panel, Jack Panels, Network Racks etc.

CAIIB IT MODULE – B: Systems and Design:

Systems Design & Analysis Data modelling:

This unit introduces Systems Design & Analysis Data modelling including Entity Relationships, Semantic Data Modeling Normalization from 1st to 3rd and BCNF, 4th & 5th level of normalization, Generic Data Modeling etc.

Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC):

SDLC i.e Software Development Life Cycle & various phases of SDLC, In-house & Out-sourcing, Software Project Management, and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) Tools are what you will read in this unit. This unit also includes System Architecture such as Servers (Hardware/ Software), Clients (Hardware/ Software), Architecture types like Client Server, 3 Tier and N-Tier etc.

Data Warehousing – Data Mining tools:

Systems such as MIS & Organization Support Systems such as DSS (Decision Support System), Executive Information Systems- EIS, GDSS, Groupware and Multimedia Business Intelligence – Expert Systems, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Virtualization, Grid Computing, and Consolidation are some of the systems can be seen in this section.
