CAIIB EXAMS REGISTRATIONS STARTING SOON!

IIBF will soon start the registrations for its flagship course of CAIIB which is going to be held in JUNE/DEC 2023. IIBF has announced the registration dates on its official website. The registrations will begin from 1st April to 21st April 2023. So, if you plan to register for the coming attempt and have chosen RISK MANAGEMENT as an elective then you must go through the Study Material for the CAIIB RISK MANAGEMENT that has been prepared by Learning Sessions.

Clearing CAIIB (being a merit-based channel) gets you the promotion that you have been seeking and two increments in your salary if you are at the clerk scale.

• BFM: 11TH JUNE 2023
• ELECTIVE Papers of CAIIB 2023: 25TH JUNE 2023

CAIIB RISK MANAGEMENT SYLLABUS FOR JUNE/ DEC 2023

IIBF had issued a notification where a revised or new Syllabus for the 2023 Exams of CAIIB has been notified. Now for some candidates, it is a point of confusion as to whether they should be preparing for the JUNE attempt as per the new syllabus 2023 or the one which was being studied previously.

It should be noted that because IIBF hasn’t confirmed the new syllabus for the NOVEMBER attempt 2023, therefore, the syllabus that was prescribed for June CAIIB 2023 papers, the same will be applicable for the JUNE/DEC 2023 Exams.

CAIIB RISK MANAGEMENT SYLLABUS 2023

CAIIB RISK MANAGEMENT MODULE – A: Risk Management

An Overview of Risk Management: 

This unit defines the various terms & policies in relation to Risk, Risk Process, Risk Organization, and Key risks such as Credit risk, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Liquidity Risk, Legal Risk, Interest Rate Risk Currency Risk, etc.

Asset Liability Management (ALM): 

ALM further takes you through the Concepts of ALM such as Asset Liability Management Organization, Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO) techniques or tools, Simulation, Gap, Duration analysis, Linear & other statistical methods of control. 

Risk measurement & Control:

This unit talks about the Calculation of Risk, how to analyze Risk Exposure, Risk management or mitigation policy, Capital adequacy norms, Risk-Adjusted Return on Capital, Risk Immunization strategy or policy or strategy for fixing exposure limits, Risk Management Policy & Procedure, etc.

Risk Management Concepts:

This unit contains concepts like norms such as Capital adequacy, Exposure, Prudence; Concept of Mid-office, Forwards, Futures and Options, Strategies and Arbitrage opportunities, and Regulatory prescriptions of risk management.

CAIIB RISK MANAGEMENT MODULE – B: Credit Risk Management

Credit Risk Management:

Credit Risk Management introduces you to concepts like Basel Norms, Three pillars of Basel and Capital requirements for Operational risk, Methods for estimating capital requirements, Methods estimating capital requirements, Risk rating and risk pricing, Framework for risk management, RBI guidelines on risk management, Standardized approach for Credit risk, Advanced Approach for Credit risk, Credit rating or credit scoring and rating system design, Credit Bureaus, Stress Test and Sensitivity Analysis, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process i.e ICAAP & Introduction to structured products.

CAIIB RISK MANAGEMENT MODULE – C: Operational Risk

Operational Banking: 

Operational Risk Introduces Basel Norms, RBI guidelines, Likely forms of operational risk and causes for a significant increase in operational risk, Sound Principles of Operational Risk Management – organizational setup and key responsibilities of ORM, SPOR – policy requirements and strategic approach for ORM, SPOR identification, measurement, control/ mitigation of operational risks, SPOR identification, measurement, how to control/mitigation of operational risks, Capital allocation for operational risk, methodology, qualifying criteria for banks for the adoption of the methods, Computation of capital charge for operational risk, etc.

CAIIB RISK MANAGEMENT MODULE – D: Market risk

Market Risk: 

This unit on Market risk provides the definitions of different terms & the Prescriptions of Basel Norms, Liquidity & Interest rate risk, Foreign Exchange & Price risk (Equity), Commodity risk, how to treat market risk under Basel Standardized duration method & Internal measurement approach – VaR, etc.

CAIIB RISK MANAGEMENT MODULE – E: Risk Organization and Policy

Risk Organization and Policy: 

This unit focuses your attention on Risk Organization and Policies including Risk Management Policy, Credit, Interlinkages to – Treasury, ALCO, etc.
