IIBF CAIIB JUNE 2024 EXAMS

As IIBF has conducted the last instalment of CAIIB exams under the old Syllabus for 2024, candidates: 

• who were not able to register for the December 2024 attempt for whatever reason; or 

• the candidates who have decided to sit for CAIIB JUNE 2024 attempt for the first time, or 

• the candidate who attempted Dec 2024 but was not able to clear; or 

• those who cleared only 1 or 2 out of the 3 papers of Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banker in DEC 2024;

would be desiring to know now what is going to happen in the upcoming June 2024 attempt of CAIIB under the revised syllabus & rules 2024.

So, the new prescribed Syllabus for Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers has been made applicable for the June 2024 exams & onwards. Under the new syllabus, there are 5 (4 compulsory + 1 elective)  papers instead of 3 papers. Therefore, it is important to know, especially for those who had written the December 2024 exams – whether and how they are going to get the credits for the papers they have cleared (scored a minimum of 50 marks in any of the papers in CAIIB Dec 2024 Exams or in other previous attempts).

IIBF has described the following 5 papers under the new syllabus, namely:

4 Compulsory Papers:

• Advanced Bank Management 

• Bank Financial Management

• Advanced Business & Financial Management

• Banking Regulations and Business Laws

1 Elective Paper (any from the below options):

• Risk Management
• Information Technology & Digital Banking
• Central Banking
• Human Resources Management
• Rural Banking

The candidates who want to write the next attempt at CAIIB should check the official website of IIBF for the notification in regard to the registration dates & exam dates for CAIIB Exams next year in June 2024.

Candidates should know that they have to register for the exams within the time period as prescribed by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance to be eligible for sitting in the CAIIB exam 2024. The changes that have been introduced in the examination are listed below:

• Validation of registration: The candidates who will register for the first time for CAIIB, will be registered for the exam for 3 years instead of 2 years – which was in the case of old rules and syllabus.
• The number of attempts: The CAIIB candidates will get a maximum of 5 attempts in the course of 3 years.
• No Consecutive appearance in exams required: Now the candidates are not required to appear in the CAIIB exams consecutively for the calculation of the number of attempts. This means that they can sit for any of the 5 attempts that will be available in the 3-year registration period.

For some of the CAIIB papers (that remain unchanged), you will be getting the credits, & for some other papers (papers that have been replaced), you will not be getting the credits.

1. I have cleared only Advanced Bank Management in Dec 2022/June/Dec 2023, will I get credit for ABM in June 2024 Exams?

Yes, you will get credit for the ABM paper as per the following format:

1. I have cleared only Bank Financial Management in Dec 2022/June/Dec 2023, will I get credit for BFM in June 2024 Exams?

Yes, you will get credit for the BFM paper as per the following format:

1. I have cleared only the Elective paper in Dec 2022/June/Dec 2023, will I get credit for BFM in June 2024 Exams?

Well… you will get credit for only the following elective paper & credits will be as per the given format:

• Risk Management
• Information Technology
• Central Banking
• Human Resources Management
• Rural Banking

But if your elective paper of CAIIB has been Retail Banking, then you will have to re-sit for any of the above papers.

1. I have cleared 2 CAIIB Papers: Advanced Bank Management & Bank Financial Management in Dec 2022/June/Dec 2023, will I get credit for ABM & BFM in June 2024 Exams?

Yes, you will get credits for ABM & BFM papers. 

But you will have to sit for the other 3 papers under the new CAIIB Syllabus i.e. 

• Advanced Business & Financial Management
• Banking Regulations and Business Laws
• 1 Elective paper from available options

1. I have cleared 2 CAIIB Papers: Advanced Bank Management & one Elective paper in Dec 2022/June/Dec 2023, will I get credit for ABM & Elective in June 2024 Exams?

Yes, you will get credits for ABM & Elective paper, provided the elective paper was not Retail Banking. 

But you will have to sit for the other 3 papers under the new CAIIB Syllabus i.e. 

• Advanced Business & Financial Management
• Banking Regulations and Business Laws
• Bank Financial Management

1. I have cleared 2 CAIIB Papers: Bank Financial Management & one Elective paper in Dec 2022/June/Dec 2023, will I get credit for BFM & Elective in June 2024 Exams?

Yes, you will get credits for BFM & Elective paper, provided the elective paper was not Retail Banking. 

Therefore, you will have to write for the remaining 3 papers under the new CAIIB Syllabus i.e. 

• Advanced Business & Financial Management
• Banking Regulations and Business Laws
• Advanced Bank Management

Another thing that the Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers candidates would be having doubts about is: 

Whether or not they have to re-register for CAIIB 2023 attempts? 

That depends on the fact when you have passed CAIIB. Let me explain it in Q&A format:

1. I registered in June 2022, do I have to register fresh for June CAIIB 2024?

Yes, you have exhausted your 2-year registration period. You will have to register for the June 2023 Exams of CAIIB fresh & forgo any credits, if any, earned in any previous attempts.

1. I registered in Dec 2022, do I have to register fresh for June CAIIB 2024?

No, you still have 2 attempts remaining. You can sit for CAIIB in upcoming papers in any 2 attempts that will be conducted in the next 1.5 years. 

Note: You also have the choice to forgo the credits & attempts & register for CAIIB afresh.

1. I registered in June 2023, do I have to register fresh for June CAIIB 2024?

No, you still have 3 attempts remaining. You can sit for CAIIB in upcoming papers in any 3 attempts that will be conducted in the next 2 years. 

Note: You also have the choice to forgo the credits & attempts & register for CAIIB afresh.

1. I registered in Dec 2023, do I have to register fresh for June CAIIB 2024?

No, you still have 4 attempts remaining. You can sit for CAIIB in upcoming papers in any 4 attempts that will be conducted in 2.5 years. 

Note: You also have the choice to forgo the credits & attempts & register for CAIIB afresh.

Other relevant Queries:

1. Is the PASSING CRITERIA of June CAIIB 2024 Exams/Revised Syllabus the same as that of what was applicable under the old Syllabus?

Yes with the only difference that there will be negative markings (25% of marks will be deducted for wrong answers). 

Otherwise, it’s the same:

• You have to get 50 marks on each paper; or
• You have to get a minimum of 45 marks & have the aggregate of all papers to 250 marks (in a single attempt).

Important Note: The candidates who will be taking credits from previous CAIIB Exams, will have to get 50 marks in each of the papers they will be writing in upcoming exams of CAIIB.
