What is CAIIB?

The Certified Associate of India Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) every year biannually in June and June as given on the official website of IIBF

It is one of the premium exams conducted by IIBF to check the advanced ways of general Banking Management and Juneision Making.

2023 CAIIB EXAM: Registration Fees

NOTE** : If you fail to apply in the first shift, then you will have to pay a penalty fee along with the required registration fee in the next two shifts.



The CAIIB exam pattern is as mentioned below –

  • All the papers of the CAIIB Exam will be conducted in online mode.
  • There are 5 papers for the CAIIB Exam 2023.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • You can take the CAIIB Exam in either English or Hindi.
  • There are 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions.
  • There is a provision of negative marking in the CAIIB June Exam 2023 & onwards



The syllabus for CAIIB Exam 2023 is described below. The IIBF is the institute that sets the syllabus for the CAIIB Exam.

  1. There are four compulsory papers for the CAIIB Exam that has to be attempted by each of the candidates.
  2. There are 05 elective papers in the CAIIB exam out of which you have to select any one of them.
  3. The elective papers are given below for the CAIIB Exam:
  • Rural Banking
  • Human Resources Management
  • Information Technology & Digital Banking
  • Risk Management
  • Central Banking

Advanced Bank Management

    1. Statistics
    2. HRM in Banks: HRM and HRD, theories of motivation, knowledge management etc.
    3. Credit Management: Principles of Credit Management, Trend Analysis, Interpretation and analysis of different Ratios, Structuring a Credit Proposal, Technical and economic feasibility studies, Control and monitoring of credit, Consortium finance, Syndication of loans etc.
    4. Compliance in Banks & Corporate Governance


Banking Financial Management

    1. International Banking: Forex Business, Direct and indirect quotations, premium and discount, cross rates, forex derivatives, NRI accounts, UCPDC 600, Role of FEMA and its rules etc.
    2. Risk Management: Risk in Banks, Basis Point Value (BPV), Stress Testing, mitigation, Counterparty risk, risk mitigation techniques, Basel Norms- Current guidelines on risk management etc.
    3. Treasury Management: new financial products, control and supervision, Interest rate risk, bond portfolio strategy, risk control and hedging instruments, Derivatives etc.
    4. Balance Sheet Management: Capital Adequacy, ALM Implementation, Gap Analysis, Illustrations of Actual Gap Reports, Trading/ Managing Liquidity, provisioning etc.
