JAIIB stands for Junior Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, which is an associate examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF).

This exam is applicable only to the members of the Institute & is conducted twice a year in May and November.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR JAIIB

• The examination is open only to the ordinary members of the Institute (Any person working in the banking and finance industry can apply to the Institute for membership.) Individual membership is available on a life membership basis.
• The candidates who wish to apply for the post must have passed the 10+2 exam in any discipline or equivalent.
• The candidates, at the discretion of the institute, may be allowed to appear for the JAIIB exam even if they have not passed the 12th board exam. However, in such a case, candidates need the recommendation of the Manager or officer-in-charge of the bank.
• The subordinate staff of recognized Banking or Financial Institutions in India, who are members of the Institute, are eligible to appear at the examination, provided they have passed the 12th standard examination or its equivalent.

Once you clear and qualify in the JAIIB examination, you will be eligible for an incentive according to the agreed procedure followed by Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), the monetary benefits are as follows:

1. If you are working as a clerk in a bank, you will receive one increment if you qualify in the JAIIB Examination.
2. If you are working as an officer in a nationalized bank, you will be entitled to one increment after qualifying for the exam.

WHY WRITE JAIIB MAY 2023?

We hope you understand the benefits that the JAIIB Certifications gives a banker. Now, why this November 2023?

That is not really a hard question to answer.

The answer is simple. Because the MAY 2023 JAIIB Attempt will have a larger syllabus than the syllabus which is applicable for JAIIB MAY 2023 exams.

Yes, as per the revised Syllabus which is applicable for the attempts after NOVEMBER 2023 (after IIBF’s confirmation), but its quite understandable that the revised syllabus, the subjects were notified at the 2021 end, is likely get confirmed for exams due after 2023.

So, we suggest that the bankers should register for MAY JAIIB 2023 attempt instead of waiting it out. In the revised Syllabus the only subject that remains the same is the paper 1 i.e. Principles & Practices of Banking.

The rest of the 2 papers are replaced as follows:

• Paper 2: Accounting and Finance for Bankers with Accounting & Financial Management for Bankers
• Paper 3: Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Banking with  Indian Economy & Indian Financial System

& then a new paper is being introduced:

• Paper 4: Retail Banking & Wealth Management (it actually a paper from the CAIIB Syllabus which has now been integrated into the JAIIB Syllabus)

So, we ask….. why should you not be writing the May 2023 JAIIB attempt. It is also considerable that the new & revised Syllabus might have new exam pattern & there would not be any previous notes or suggestions to take help for.

Therefore, we suggest you apply for JAIIB as soon as JAIIB registrations open in September 2023. The Registration portal will open on notified dates & so free some time from your banking schedule to register within the time limit!
